This cemetery is Bath's Catholic Cemetery. It was consecrated in 1858 and shortly afterwards a mortuary chapel (designed by Joseph and Charles Hansom) was added. There have been over 3,700 burials. Within the grounds is also the Eyre Chapel, a private chapel for the Eyre family, which opened in 1863. It has burials in the crypt for members of that family. This includes a history of the cemetery, images of surviving memorials, transcriptions of the inscriptions and maps of the individual sections. It also includes the preceding burials in the crypt of the original St John’s church in Old Orchard Street.
