Description

Also known as Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Cemetery, Cubano Cemetery, Woodlawn Memorial Park North, Woodlawn Park Cemetery. Caballero Rivero Woodlawn North Park Cemetery and Mausoleum is one of the oldest cemeteries in Miami, Florida. In 1913, Thomas O. Wilson, William N. Urmey and Clifton D. Benson established Woodlawn Park Cemetery. They invested thousands of dollars importing rare tropical trees and shrubs, including the first schefflera (umbrella trees) and mahogany trees. Notable burials include Carlos Prío Socarrás, former president of Cuba, and George Merrick, founder of Coral Gables and the University of Miami.
