Cemetery Description

This cemetery is located on the grounds of the South Winsloe United Church, which was constructed in 1880. The cemetery was there when the previous church was constructed in the 1850's. The Winsloe South United Church is the only rural Protestant brick church in PEI.
Today, October 6, 2023, after standing for 143 years, the Winsloe South United Church was demolished.
Built to replace a previous wooden church in 1880, the South Winsloe United Church, formerly the South Winsloe Bible Christian Church, was one of the few brick churches on PEI, and the only rural Protestant brick church on the Island.
It was built by two local artisans, bricklayers, and carpenters, Henry and Tommy Ford, with Island-made bricks from the Rocky Point brickyard. In the keystone above the door the carving read “BC Church 1880”. Another piece of Island history gone forever.
