Description

This cemetery is behind Trinity United Methodist Church, the second oldest Methodist Church in Mecklenburg County. Trinity began in 1815 and was called Buckhill Church, meeting in a log cabin about a mile from the current site. In 1833, the church moved to the present location and took the name Trinity. The oldest section of the cemetery is behind the sanctuary (built 1928) and attached education building (1956). The earliest headstone is for an infant that died in 1823, predating the church's move to this property so it is assumed that the remains and/or the marker were moved later. Other early markers are dated in the 1850s and 1860s. There are also unmarked graves. It is an active cemetery.
