Description

Cemetery opened in 1954 and was used by the South Carolina Department of Mental Health for the burial of caucasian ("white") patients of the State Hospital. The cemetery closed in 1965. Gravemarkers do not include names. There are slate markers with numbers only. An index is available online at the Richland County Public Library for grave numbers 1406 through 1544. The cemetery does not have any identifying signs and is behind the Columbia Friends Meeting Quaker Church, which was formerly the Pisgah United Methodist Church.
