Cemetery is located behind the house. Glen Mary was built by Theophilus Jackson Smith in 1848 and was sold in 1869 to Ethan Allen Hitchcock, who soon after died, leaving it to his wife, Margaret Rind Nicholls. The Nicholls family owned the plantation for 110 years. The house was put on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The cemetery is well maintained by the current owners: Preservation America Trust
