Description

A section in the cemetery known locally as the Fuller St Jewish Cemetery. Comprised of sections named after individual congregations from several cities generally north of Boston. To find a grave in person, it helps to know which section the grave is in. Netzah Israel Cemetery Section, AKA Zwiller Cemetery: Rabbi Yaakov Yisroel Korff purchased the section of Netzah Israel in the 1930s, at the time the Slotnick family purchased the entire land for Beth Israel Everett Jewish cemetery. The Slotnick family still maintains a storefront for monuments on the Beth Israel property. "Netzah Israel" takes its name from the verse in 1 Samuel 15:29 meaning "Strength of Israel" or "Eternity of Israel." It was not the name of a synagogue like other sections of Beth Israel. Rabbi Korff, buried in the mausoleum or "ohel" in the Netzah Israel section, maintained a synagogue in Dorchester, Boston named Adath Jacob and was part of the Zvhiler Chassdic dynasty. This synagogue was located at 170 and later 163 Woodrow Avenue. Those buried in Netzah Israel most likely had a connection to Rabbi Korff and/or were from the town Zvhil, today known as Novohrad-Volynskyi, Ukraine. Death certificates from the 1940s through 1960s list an alternate name for "Netzah Israel" as "Zwiller Cemetery Everett."
