Description

Also known as Bruner Cemetery, Bruner-Edwards Cemetery, Turkey Creek Cemetery. This cemetery was originally associated with the Mt. Zion Baptist Church-Turkey Creek, Seminole County, OK. The remains of the church, can be found near the entrance to the cemetery. The Mt. Zion Baptist Church, was a integral part of the Turkey Creek community, serving it well. At one time, the church was under the pastorate of Rev. Eucum Bruner (one of the seven children born to Nancy Lincoln Bruner-a daughter of the Negro Abraham, and wife of Caesar Bruner. The Negro Abraham and his family, were brought to Indian Territory as part of the Treaty of Payne's Landing, from Florida.....Second Seminole War). This cemetery is a sister cemetery to The Plenty Fay Family Cemetery, and the Scipio Cemetery (located just outside of Wewoka, OK).
