Mannfield Cemetery is part of the Withlacoochee State Forest, located among 157,479 acres in the heart of Florida's Nature Coast, easily accessible off Lecanto Hwy (Hwy 491). Originally, Mannfield was the county seat with approximately 250 residents until the city of Inverness was voted in by the electors. Once the railroad came to the county, it went straight to Inverness without stopping in Mansfield. This caused Mannfield's decline and even though it is called a ghost town, little remains – just the Mannsfield cemetery that makes an interesting stop for hikers.
