Description

This is the burial site of 4 graves on top of the mountain. Iller's peak received its name from John Iller. His daughter, Mary, a granddaughter, and either another grandchild, near by neighbor child, or family friend died in the flood of 1861-1862. This flood was reported to be of biblical proportions as it encompassed California, Oregon, Nevada, and Utah. John Iller was reportedly buried there also when he passed away later. Four large boulders marked the graves of these four souls. In the 1970s it is reported that the boulders were no longer present. This is on private property and will need permission to search for the burials.
