The Fraser family cemetery, situated on Parewanui Rd three miles from Bulls, was established in 1879. The land for the burial ground was transferred to a group of trustees in 1910. To this day the cemetery is managed by trustees from the family and it was decided that a commemoration plaque was fitting for the 100th anniversary of WWI. Cemetery committee member Ian Clapham curated a family history which included a role of honour. Colin Scott is a Fraser descendant on both his mother's and father's side and said the cemetery is a unique part of his family history. "There are only a few family cemetery's still in use that are maintained by the family and not the council, so it is quite special." "It's on a little hill and it's a beautiful place, very tranquil. I walk through it and it feels a bit uncanny seeing how far some of the stones date back to. It's a lovely little place."
