Frederick William Wheeler, 82-year-old retired oil field driller and pioneer Tulsa
resident, died Sunday night at his home, 222 E. 21st st. Mr. Wheeler had been a
Tulsa resident for 40 years. He was a native of Copenhagen, Ireland. Funeral
arrangements are pending with the Fitzgerald funeral home.

RITES WEDNESDAY FOR F.W. WHEELER
Retired Oil Field Driller Dies at Home Here. Requiem mass for Frederick William Wheeler,
82, retired oil field driller and a Tulsan since 1910, will be said at 9 a.m. Wednesday
in Holy Family cathedral. Interment will be in Catholic cemetery, directed by the
Fitzgerald funeral home. Two rosaries, one at 7:30 p.m. by the Cathedral Womens club,
and one at 8 p.m. by Christ the King Womens club, will be recited Tuesday in the funeral
home chapel. Mr. Wheeler died Sunday at his home, 222 E. 21st st., after a four-month
illness. Until retiring about 20 years ago, Mr. Wheeler had worked in the Drumright oil
fields during his residence in Tulsa. He was a native of Copenhagen, N.Y., and a
member of the Holy Family parish. Survivors include a son, Daniel T. Wheeler,
401 W. 4th st.; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Brown, of the home; three grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.

PIONEER OIL WORKER DIES
Frederick William Wheeler, 82, of 222 E. Twenty-first st., retired oil field driller
and a pioneer Tulsan, died at his home Sunday after a four-month illness. A native of
Copenhagen, N.Y., Mr. Wheeler moved to Tulsa in 1910 and worked in the Drumright oil
fields until retiring about 20 years ago. He was a member of Holy Family cathedral parish.
Surviving are a son, Daniel T. Wheeler, 401 W. Fourth st.; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Brown,
of the home; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Requiem mass is
tentatively set for 9 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family cathedral. Interment will be in
Catholic cemetery under direction of the Fitzgerald Funeral home. Two rosaries, by the
Cathedral and Christ the King womens clubs, will be held at 7:30 and 8 p.m. Tuesday in
Fitzgeralds chapel.
