- Eva R. Smith, 89, of 1500 Southgate Drive, Kissimmee, died Jan. 31. Born in Wisconsin, she moved to the area from there in 1984. She was a policewoman. She was a Protestant. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. D.E. Martin, Hudson, Wisconsin. Graveside services were held Feb. 5 at Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, with the Rev. Anthony Guenther officiating. Conrad and Thompson Funeral Home, Kissimmee, was in charge of arrangements.

His assassination in Sarajevo precipitated Austria-Hungary's declaration of war against Serbia, which in turn triggered a series of events that resulted in Austria-Hungary's allies and Serbia's declaring war on each other, starting World War I.
