Cloud, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002. Born April 14, 1921, in Dupont,
Ind., she worked at Joyce Shoe Factory and Reliance, and at an electric
company in Madison, Ind. She retired from the Mercury Marine Plant No.
7, St. Cloud, in 1987. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary
Post No. 9, Madison, Ind., past president and life member of the VFW
Auxiliary Post No. 3227, St. Cloud, and the Eagles Lodge in St. Cloud.
Survivors include her son, Louis Burris, North Vernon, Ind.; sister,
Lucy Smiley, Hope, Ind.; brothers, Ronald VanWye, Plainfield, Ind.;
Charles VanWye, Richard VanWye and Gary VanWye, all of Madison, Ind.;
two granddaughters, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Ellison W. Burris, in 1979, seven sisters and one
brother. Services were held Aug. 25, at the chapel of the Vail-Holt
Funeral Home, in Madison, Ind., with the Rev. Joe VanWye officiating.
Interment followed at the Fairmount Cemetery, Madison, Ind. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests donations be made to either the American
Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association. Vail-Holt Funeral
Homes, Madison, Ind., was in charge of arrangements.
