The Wyalong Advocate and Mining, Agricultural and Pastoral Gazette Friday 8 February 1924 - After being licensee of the Empire Hotel, West Wyalong, for the past 10 years, Mr. Murt O'Brien has transferred the license to Mr. Edward Claire, of Sydney. Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien have conducted the hotel in a very creditable manner, and have displayed good citizenship in every way. They leave the ''old home" with considerable regret, which is shared by the public. Prior to entering the hotel business, Mr. O'Brien was farming at Buddigower for 10 years. They are at present residing at West Wyalong, and it is to be hoped that they will not find it necessary to seek fresh fields and pastures new.The new licensee, Mr Claire, holds good records as a hotel proprietor. The Wyalong Advocate and Mining, Agricultural and Pastoral Gazette Tuesday 12 August 1924 - Mr. Murt O'Brien, who recently, took over the Globe Hotel at West Wyalong, is a good townsman and supporter of sport. He was for several years the proprietor of the Empire Hotel, during which time both Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien were very popular as host and hostess of that hostelry, In the extensive Globe Hotel, they will have wider scope for their ability in this direction.
