Erected by A, MAXWELL, China Merchant. In Memory of HELEN MAXWELL, his daughter who died at Dumfries, 1846. Also ALEXANDER MAXWELL, his Son who died at Abington, 1849. Also MARY ANN MAXWELL, who died at Sanquhar, 1853. Also WILLIAM MAXWELL, who died Penpont, 1855, aged 3 years. Also WILLIAM MAXWELL, who died 28th October 1864, aged 8 years. Also WALTER MAXWELL, who died 7th Aug't 1871, aged 11 years. Also MARY McQUENN, Wife of the above A. Maxwell, who died at Penpont, 22nd June 1887, aged 70 years. Also the above ALEXANDER MAXWELL, who deid at Penpont, 99th February 1895, aged 78 years. Also MARGARET MAXWELL, his Grandaughter, died at Penpont 23rd May 1896, in her 9th year.
