The Bus Stop

Contributor: Andrea Created: 7 months ago Updated: 7 months ago

I think it was during one of Grandpa's trips to Ephraim around the Memorial Day weekend that he stopped in Provo to rest and visit. As we visited, he wanted to give me some advice. The advice revolved around an experience he had had some time before. After working his shift at the Salt Lake Temple, he was waiting at the bus stop to begin his journey home. Another traveler approached and asked him if such and such a bus had come yet. His first thought was to respond that it had not. Then he thought better that it was more accurate to respond that he had not seen it since he had been waiting there. There is a small but significant difference. One answer is absolute, the other relative. His advice to me was to always communicate the more accurate response in all cases and not to give an answer that may be inaccurate and influence someone the wrong way.
