Civil War veteran, he enlisted July 11, 1864, as a private with Co G, 197th PA Infantry(even though headstone has a different reference), honorably discharged with his company Nov 11, 1864. He married Elizabeth lnu. Son of Jonathan & Ellen "Helen" (Daily) Supplee. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Columbia working for the RR (a brakeman). At Philadelphia's 52nd St crossing, he was accidentally crushed between two freight cars & died on the way to the hospital. The news article in the Philadelphia Inquirer claims he was 36 years of age. He was closer to 56. and newspaper may have gotten it wrong...?
