**WILLIAM (1974)..US Congressman. Born in Uniontown, PA, he graduated from PA Military College, in 1922, from Dickinson School of Law, in 1925, was admitted to the bar in 1926 & commenced to practice law in Uniontown, PA. He was Asst DA of Fayette County, (1928-32) & Mayor of Uniontown, (1938-41). During WWII, he served as a Major in the US Army in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he was elected as a Repub to the 80th Congress, serving (1947-49). An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law, was recalled to active duty with the US Army in 1951 & served as chief of the legislative coordination branch until 1956. He became regional administrator, Securities & Exchange Commission, Washington, DC, serving (1957-64) & served on the PA Zoning Board & the Parks Commission. He died at age 72 in Carlisle, PA.
