My second Grandpa

Contributor: lynnfern Created: 9 months ago Updated: 9 months ago

Ursal was my grandpa's brother. My grandpa is Alfonzo Clinton Chidester. My name is Kimberly Faun Parkin Hansen, my mother is Helen Chidester Parkin Willoughby. Although my grandpa passed away when I was small.. I still have many memories of him. I didn't get to know my grandpa Urs until I was in my teenage years. He used to take me and my sisters water skiing with his grandchildren. He was always so much fun to be with, and laughed at the struggles we had learning how to water ski. I had never even been on a water ski, much less seen them! But he was so a patient, and got such a kick out of my sister Kathy when she wouldn't take off her overalls to learn how to water ski. Even though she had her swimming suit on underneath those overalls, she refused to take them off. Thus, she never did make it out of the water, because the water settled in the jeans, and made it to heavy to lift her out of the water!! oh did he laugh!! He let her try as many times as she wanted, but sooner than later she exhausted herself, and it was all we could do to get her back into the boat. I often wondered if my grandpa was ever in the boat with us on any of those trips, I'm positive he appreciated the time his brother spent with us, and the love he showed us in those precious boating trips. I will never forget my grandpa Urs, Chidester. :)

Ursal Loveland Chidester was 32 years old when World War II: Nazi Germany and Slovakia invade Poland, beginning the European phase of World War II. World War II, also known as the Second World War, was a global war that lasted from 1939 to 1945, although conflicts reflecting the ideological clash between what would become the Allied and Axis blocs began earlier. The vast majority of the world's countries—including all of the great powers—eventually formed two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis. It was the most global war in history; it directly involved more than 100 million people from over 30 countries. In a state of total war, the major participants threw their entire economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities behind the war effort, blurring the distinction between civilian and military resources. World War II was the deadliest conflict in human history, marked by 50 to 85 million fatalities, most of whom were civilians in the Soviet Union and China. It included massacres, the genocide of the Holocaust, strategic bombing, premeditated death from starvation and disease and the only use of nuclear weapons in war.
