Birth: Mar. 9, 1821
Death: Jan. 30, 1904
Son of Thomas Bacon (died 1845 Canada) and Rachel Marshall (died 1874).
In the death of T. G. Bacon, which
occurred at his home last Saturday
forenoon, one of the early pioneers is
removed from the town of Belmont.
He settled in that town in the fall of
1855 and made it his home up to the
time of his death. He had been in
failing health for some time, and had
been a very patient sufferer. Mr.
Bacon as long as he was able, led a
busy and useful life. From Dec. 16,
1861 to July 3, 1862, he was numbered
as one of the "boys in blue." He held
the office of town treasurer longer than
any other man, viz., eighteen years;
resigning the office of school district
treasurer after twenty-five or thirty
years of service. He was a member of
Belmont Post. No. 115, G. A. R.
Seven children are left to mourn his
loss, besides many relatives and
friends. The funeral services were
held Monday at 2 p. m., Rev. Morris
of Wild Rose officiating.
