Funny story about Uncle Tom...

Contributor: Conyngham Created: 2 years ago Updated: 2 years ago

My father, D Paul Jones, told me of a time he remembered hearing Uncle Tom talk in Stake Conference. It was a good thing he was Stake President or he may not have gotten away with this that day! Uncle Tom was a doctor (in fact, he delivered my dad) and he wanted to encourage the women in the stake to nurse their babies instead of bottle-feeding them. In his talk in Stake Conference, he listed multiple benefits of breastfeeding for the mother and the baby to show it to be the best way to feed a baby. He then had the entire congregation laughing with his last reason for a mother to nurse her baby when he said something to the effect of, "Besides, it comes in the cutest containers!"--Laura Lechner
