Stanley enlisted for WWI from Brisbane. He served as Private 6027 with the 23rd Australian Infantry Battalion, Australian Imperial Force. He was killed in action in Belgium aged 35 and is at Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium
