My Uncle

Contributor: koand Created: 1 year ago Updated: 1 year ago

I never knew Uncle Shane personally but he gave me my name. I was born on January 21, 1998, a week after the accident that took his life. He was my mom, Kerrie Cornwall Allen's, brother. My mom decided to name me after him, and to keep the spelling of his name in mine. My name is Shanena pronounced Shane-na and even though most people pronounce my name wrong when they first read it, I am so thankful for this connection to my uncle. I have felt his spirit at certain times in my life helping me and suporting me. Sometimes when I have been in distress, but also when I have been hunting with my father or engaged in outdoor activities. I have been so blessed to know my Uncle through the stories of others and through his remarkable legacy. I love my name and would never have it any other way.
