The Wattleworth Family Cradle

06/09/2022
My mother Doris Elizabeth Ford Wattleworth made a cradle for use by her great grandchildren. Mom was taking a wood working class in adult education and at that time made this cradle and a rocking horse. Since he was the oldest of the great grandchildren the cradle was used by Scott and then passed along to other great grandchildren when they were born. Scott died suddenly just prior to his second birthday so the cradle became a reminder of this wonderful little boy who loved pickles and binkies and was excited to show everyone he had just learned to jump. The cradle was lovingly used for many years by other great grandchildren and remains to this day in the possession of Scott's mother to be passed to Scott's younger brother who now has named his son (the first great great grandson) Scott. What memories this little cradle holds for us all.

Notes from funeral talk given by Great Grandfather Frank Wattleworth

06/09/2022
-Matthew 18:2 - And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them. - Remember Scott as an example that the Savior placed before us. - Be thankful for what was and what is. Don't dwell on what might have been. It's OK to remember what was with some sorrow that has a mixture of joy in it that remembers what was good and what has blessed our lives. - I found myself dwelling sorrowfully on that last picture of Scott as he lay in that hospital room. I said that's not what I want to remember, I want to remember that little boy 24 hours or so earlier standing in Margaret's kitchen while great grandma Doris put olives on his fingers as fast as he could stuff them in his mouth and grandpa Gary saying "You look like a little chipmunk." - You all have your memories of him. Remember him with joy and happiness. How he hated the word "no." How he loved bubble baths, loved having his picture taken, how he found an old camera and loved to pretend. - Remember how grandpa would pull out his binky and tease but he found a way around that, he got two. Then he would pop first one and then the other into his mouth. - He loved to go see his dad at work and check the aisles. - He loved cars and at his first Christmas thought video tapes were cars too. - Remember the funny crawl? I think his dad called it his combat crawl. - He love new words like "pickle." - He liked to play Nintendo with his dad even though he didn't know how and he mastered the game "Perfection" and knew how to put the right shapes in the right holes. - Remember him as a happy child playing with his little brother Jackson - swinging swivel toys back and forth. - Above all remember the lessons taught by a child, Trust and Confidence and Love. - Matthew 18: 1-4 teaches us why we must become like little children to be with our Savior Jesus Christ in his kingdom. It is never too late. - Remember how the Savior loved little children. - I have this testimony that Scott lives with our Savior - may we so live as to merit a place with Him also.
