Samuel Henry Burnett

Told at the 2013 Rose and Gordon Burnett family reunion (Gordon is Samuel's son) Samuel Henry Burnett was a big guy. So was John, his son. Samuel was a farmer. He grew melons, among other things.

I, Chrystal Burnett, was asked again to assemble genealogy for our lines. Seeing there are so many of the nieces and nephews that I pass by because I do not recognize them, why don't you, as nieces and nephew, stop me and say who you are. I would be very grateful to know you, because it has been years since I have been close to the family. You, as descendants of S. H. and Cathern M. Burnett don't know each other. With this thought in mind I am using what pictures that have been sent to me over the years, to compile this genealogy. I hope this gives each a desire to send in your families. You will find some of your pictures were taken when you were babies. Now you have grandchildren of your own. This is what is going to make this book priceless. Let's have knowledge of each others families, not just our own distinguished families. I have some of my mother's family I am including so you will know a little on her line. I think about what my grandparents,, James Burnett and Fanny Fairbrother Orchard gave up for us. Grandfather lost his wife in England. He was left with two children, had lost five babies. He married Susan Hunt. They had one son, then sailed for New Zealand. His brother, William and family were in this New Land. While on the way, his wife Susan, gave birth to a baby girl. She gave her life for that child and was left at sea. After they landed in New Zealand his baby girl went to be with her mother. Grandfather had three children and no Mother to take care of them. He married our grandmother, Fanny Fairbrother Orchard, in New Zealand. She had gone to New Zealand with her mother's family in the early 1850's. Grandmother and Grandfather lost their first child, a daughter. My father, Samuel Henry Burnett, was the fourth child. His parents accepted the gospel in New Zealand. When Dad was five years of age his family left New Zealand with all their worldly goods, son and daughter and came to Farmington, UT. They came to Farmington because one of the missionaries they knew was from Farmington. They understood the Plan of Salvation and knew how important it was for them to go to the temple for their endowments and to be sealed for time and eternity. They knew that it was important to have their children sealed to them so that in Heaven they would be a family again. As my mother said to me after she had left this ife, only two thing are important in this life; they are TEMPLE WORK and GENEALOGY. Mitchell's and Jones' did the same. They came here for the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Are we as their children trying to get into the same Kingdom as they? Are we working out our own salvation? Will they be proud of us? What a heritage we have. Are we proud of it? We do have the truth. Let's work out our salvation and go to the temple and have our own temple work done. That we may be with them in the hereafter.
