The late Mr W. Charman, who died at Auckland this week, and whose funeral took place in Masterton this afternoon, came out to New Zealand from the Old Country 39 years ago when he was 17 years of age, landing at Wellington. For some years before deceased came to Masterton he resided at Wanganui and was later in business at Otaki. Twenty-five years ago he came to Masterton and commenced business as a grocer and provision merchant in Feist's buildings, near the Queen's Hotel. About 10 years ago he sold out to Watson and Co., and removed to Wellington, where he engaged in business for about four years, when he disposed of it and retired. About six months ago Mr and Mrs Charman (nee Miss Colway) removed to Devonport, Auckland. A week or so ago deceased was taken ill with influenza, which eventually caused his death. Deceased leaves a widow and one daughter (Miss Gladys Charman), with whom much sympathy will be felt in their sad and sudden bereavement.

Robina was born in Masterton to James Colway (1832-1890) & Agnes Griffen (1841-1903)

Gladys married Frederick James Norris (1904-1975). They divorced in 1948.
