My Dad.
My dad was both my habor and my lighthouse.
He provided a safe harbor to shield me from harm. A Place where I could replenish my soul and repair my life. There he taught me by example. Never by force or coercion.
He let me and my brother Bobby make in our backyard a wiffleball park for baseball season for the neighborhood to play. He let us make it a football field in the fall with goal posts made from a bamboo stick hung between two pine trees. In winter he let us flood the backyard with hopes of it freezing into a ice rink We were free
He was a light to guide me through the seas and tides of life. As I left the harbor to explore and navigate the ups and downs of school, friends, sports, music and work my father kept his light on. His beacon shined through my life. It was always there for me to look towards and adjust my course accordingly.
He taught me how to sail.
I am overcome with love for my father Robert H Shepherdson . He was both my harbor and my lighthouse.
