Ira Edwin Steed, 77, retired farmer died Monday at 10:30 am of a heart ailment at his home in Farmington. A son of Laura and Lucinda Steed he was born January 21 1864 at Farmington. He married Matilda Larsen, who died July 11th 1918. On February 12 1919 he married Elizabeth Peterson, who survives. Both marriages were performed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr Steed who retired from farming in 1939 was well known for his ability to recite from memory lengthy poems. He was a high priest in his ward quorum and was a temple worker and ward teacher. Surviving are his widow, 3 sons Ruel N. and Ralph R Steed, both of Farmington and Raphael Steed of Heber City; one sister, Fanny Louisa Steed of Mendon. eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral Services will be announced by the Union Mortuary of Bountiful.
