Seven Days Away
My job's on a drilling rig, but my heart's at home
The life of a roughneck's all I've ever known
My wife took me on 'bout five years ago
Now the wife of a roughneck is all she'll ever know
We live our lives seven days at a time
She sits at home kinda like a dollar wait'n on a dime
She meets me with open arms and an angel's smile
That's what makes the seven days away worth while
Understanding honest and true, just a few words
That describe my Emma Lou
Seven days away, sleepless nights hard work and pain
I love the life so I don't complain
I worry about her and if she has everything she will need
A woman like her is a rare breed
She tries to understand the life I've chosen
Work'n in the boil'n heat
Or so cold you swear your frozen
Just knowing what I've got at home pulls me through
I guess she's the reason I do what I do
I often think of being born rich, but I probably
would have ended up with a store bought bitch
Seven days away not being hugged or kissed
and thinking of the good things I've missed
She's in my thoughts all seven days away
And in my arms at home for the seven day stay
Love, Quinn
