Orville Blaine Larson

Contributor: finnsh Created: 1 year ago Updated: 1 year ago

Orville went into the photography business with his father as a young man. He didn't always like the work, but he always did the work anyway. He retired after taking a trip to Europe. He was about 68 at the time. As my Mom remembers, Blaine would always check on his mother. One night, Martha (his mother) got really mad at Blaine, claiming that she had taken care of herself for a long time, and could continue now. To adapt for this, he arranged for my Mom (Linda) to take piano lessons a few houses down. Every night she would walk to Martha's house and practice piano until after dark, at which point Martha would insist that someone come get her to be safe. Blaine would come pick Linda up (and check on his mom in the process). This went on for about 2 years.

Under Hitler's rule, Germany was transformed into a totalitarian state that controlled nearly all aspects of life via the Gleichschaltung legal process. The official name of the state was Deutsches Reich until 1943 and Großdeutsches Reich from 1943 to 1945.
