OBITUARY

Wairarapa Daily Times, 27 Nov 1918,

MR NORMAN BEETHAM.

The news of the death at Colyton yesterday of Mr. Norman Beetham, a pionoer settler of the Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay districts, will be received with feelings of deep regret. The deceased was 65 years of age, and was born in Surrey, England. He arrived in New Zealand in the ship William and Jane in 1855. In 1880 he settled in Hawke's Bay, on the "Te Apiti" station, and followed sheep-farming for a good many years. Later he came to Masterton, where he has lived a retired life.

A widow (a daughter of the late Mr H. S. Wardeli, R.M), and two sons, one of whom is on active service, are left. The deceased was the younger brother of Messrs H. H., W. H., and C. Beetham, of Masterton.

Deceased left Masterton three weeks ago to visit his son at Colyton, and was taken ill. The relatives will have sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their bereavement. The funeral will leave the late residence of deceased at 2 p.m. to-morrow for the Masterton Cemetery.
