Minor Winn, of Welsh descent, built his banked-log miller’s house, mill, distillery, and store on the Little River and Rock Hill Mill Road on land purchased from Richard Henry Lee.
Minor Winn, Jr., inherited his father’s land on Rock Hill Mill Road and built his famous greystone home in 1807.
Minor and Margaret had 9 children. Four daughters, Mary Smith, Susanna Grant, Elizabeth Smith, and Margaret Johnson.
Five sons, James, John, Minor, Jr., Richard, and William Winn.
John, Richard, and William were surveyors who founded the town of Winnsboro, South Carolina. They were officers in the South Carolina militia in the Revolutionary War.
