I want pay tribute to Melvin Frost. We all called him Mel. He hired me to work on his farm near the head of Montezuma Canyon when I was just 14. He taught me to drive his wonderful 1950 Chevy pick up, and how to build fence and also plant flowers. He had an Ercoupe plane out at the farm and had smoothed a strip of land to use for an airport. I was paid 37 cents an hour, which at time time was a respectable wage for a young boy in 1950. I also enjoyed swimming in his reservoir after a hard days work. Mel was a wonderful person. I savor the memories.
