The town of Woodstock takes its name from the Woodstock pastoral run which was named in 1863 by Mark Watt Reid station manager for pastoralist John Melton Black By his five sons to the memory of Rev John Reid Presbyterian minister Born at Tarbolton Ayrshire Scotland The deceased was successively minister in the parishes of Bathgate and Johnstone in Scotland and Liverpool in England ---and North Melbourne in Victoria and the Scots ---in Sydney
