Interview with Grandpa

Contributor: rworthington Created: 2 years ago Updated: 2 years ago

For a school project I was to interview a relative and I chose Grandpa Robertson. There is one question I asked that I remember the answer to very well. It was how Grandpa met Grandma for the first time. As I remember it, Grandma Robertson was promised a ride home by a friend from school. She came out to her friend's car and found it entirely filled with boys. There wasn't an open seat. Her friend simply said, "Pick a lap!" And Grandma picked Grandpa's lap. I don't know how exactly their courtship went from there, but that was the moment that brought them together.

The technological superiority required for such dominance was seen as necessary for national security, and symbolic of ideological superiority. The Space Race spawned pioneering efforts to launch artificial satellites, uncrewed space probes of the Moon, Venus, and Mars, and human spaceflight in low Earth orbit and to the Moon.
