Found the obituary at http://web.kitsapsun.com/archive/1997/04-17/0012_obituaries.html to verify difficult contrast on the headstone (note the obituary is a corrected version). Louis E. Ouderkirk, 69, of Bremerton died April 11, 1997, at Harrison Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 6, 1927, in Kansas City, Kan. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 and in the Navy from 1941 to 1946.

He was a custodian for 12 years with the Central Kitsap School District, retiring in 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Randy and Dan, both of Port Orchard; a daughter, Lori Lowrey of Port Orchard; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. April 17 at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home.
