Lorena Goulding Roundy, 89, passed away December 27, 2005 in Hurricane, Utah, at the home of her daughter Rayda Roundy.
She was born November 13, 1916 in Henrieville, Utah to Charles Hezekiah and Dessie Eleanor Riding Goulding.
She married Horace Garn Roundy July 18, 1934, Solemnized Sept 4, 1934 in the St George temple. He preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1972.
Lorena was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held leadership positions in all the organizations of the church. Her longest calling was in the Records Extraction program, serving some seventeen years, but the calling she enjoyed most was that of wife and mother. She loved being at home growing flowers and vegetables.
She also loved to travel and was able to visit a good many of the states. She was an avid reader and often read a book or more a day up until her death. She did beautiful handwork of tatting, crocheting and netting. She was a person who made do with what she had.
She is survived by 11 of her 12 children, 70 grand children, 105 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Florence Willard, three sons-in law, two grandsons, two granddaughters, one great great grandson. Sisters Edna May Hoyt and Vema Olive Meyers.
Funeral services will be held Saturday Dec. 31 at 11 am in the Alton Utah LDS Ward Chapel. Viewing will be held Friday, Dec. 30 from 7 pm to 8 pm at Mosdell Mortuary and one hour prior to services in Alton. Burial will be in the Alton Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
