Circleville, Utah - Ida Mae Barney Smith, 79, of Circleville, died October 18, 1998 in Richfield. Born April 7, 1919 in Elsinore to Joshua and Della Roberts Barney. Married Grover Leroy Smith, August 31, 1944 in Panguitch. The marriage was solemnized May 15, 1951 in the Manti LDS Temple. Survived by her husband, Grover of Circleville; children; Wayne Smith of Taylorsville, Terry (Sharon) Smith, Las Vegas, NV, Sandra (Boyd) Hash of Riverton, Judy (Richard) Clarkem, Hawaii, David (Dorothy) Smith, Circleville; 25 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren with several in progress; one great-great-granddaughter; brothers and sisters, Gladys Curtis, American Fork, Zelpha Franks, Dale Barney both of Ogden, Boyd Barney, San Bernardino, CA, Leona Larson, Derell Barney, Garth Barney all of Pleasant Grove, Sarah Madge Snow, Portland, OR. Leona B Larsen was 6 years old when Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, were assassinated by a Yugoslav nationalist named Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo, sparking the outbreak of World War I. Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria-Este was a member of the imperial Habsburg dynasty, and from 1896 until his death the heir presumptive (Thronfolger) to the Austro-Hungarian throne. His assassination in Sarajevo precipitated Austria-Hungary's declaration of war against Serbia, which in turn triggered a series of events that resulted in Austria-Hungary's allies and Serbia's declaring war on each other, starting World War I.
