Lazarus Hawkins

To the Memory of Lazarus Hawkins of Fittleworth in ye County of Sussex, who died at Spofforth on the 18th day of March 1848, in the 61st Year of his age.

As a testimony to faithful & devoted Service during a period of upwards of 40 years. This stone is Erected by his attached Master & Friend, the Revd. James Tripp, Rector of this Parish.

Not with Eye service, as menpleasers; But as the servants of Christ, doing The will of God from the Hearts; Eph: 6:6.
