KENNETH DON KENNEDY
Kenneth Don Kennedy born- March 17,1935 , Aurora, Sevier, Utah. Having been born in a two-room house, son of Don William Kennedy & Sena Hartense Crowther. When Ken was small, his sister Elvera said he would always tear down the playhouse's she and ken's other sister Nada were trying to build in the kitchen.
Kenneth & his friends used to play in the old canal. When the water was down, they would build Sand castles out of the sand in the canal bed. He and his sister Elvera used to herd the families cow's down by the old clay mill in Aurora. Kenneth and Elvera used to buy a sack of candy for five cent's, then they would take the cows down the Railroad right of way to a place where a hut had been built half way up a telephone pole, from this advantages spot they could watch the cows from daylight until dark. While Ken & Elvera where herding cows there parents were busy thinning beets and milking the cows to help support the family. It was said that they could get eight dollars for a large can of cream.
Kenneth finished his elementary schooling wile living at Aurora, Sevier, Utah. In 1946 the family moved to Mapleton, while living their ken attended secondary schools in Springville. It was said that his mother Sena Hartense attended school more than Ken did, just to try and keep him going. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for two-years at Camp Pendleton, California, he returned home and worked for Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel Co. for twenty-four years. Ken also went to the old trade tech & took a course in Body & fender work, he and Joe Bullock used to paint cars in his dad's shed.
Kenneth meets and started dating Beverly O'Leary in Sept of 1958. They where latter married Dec. 11, 1959. "Our first home was in Provo, Utah." Ken loved fixing up yards & houses. He made Rock walls & a Fireplace made out of Rock we hauled from the West Desert. At our second home he remodeled the Basement, made a Rock wall, and Patio.
Kenneth was a good husband and father, he worked hard and he was a good provider. Ken was always good to help people less fortunate than himself. He loved to fish and to camp out, going with his family every weekend when the kids were little. In later years we went back and forth to Arizona for the winters, coming back to Provo in the summers. Ken worked with his brother Vernal as a roofer in the summers. In Arizona he got the bug to dry wash and hunt for gold. He metal detected for gold nuggets. He loved the desert and he enjoyed the out of doors. While in Arizona he worked for the King of Arizona gold mines for five years. He collapsed and died on the job site Aug.4,1992.
