Obituary Joseph Curtis Anderson POCATELLO, IDAHO - On May 31, 2000, Joseph Curtis Anderson was released from this Earth into the arms of a loving Heavenly Father. He was born on April 8, 1922, to Carl Bernard and Arvine Curtis Anderson in Lund, IDAHO. He married Zelda Van Orden on March 11, 1942 in Thomas, IDAHO, and their marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on June 17, 1943. Zelda preceded him in death 19 years earlier. He later married Janet Stoddard on May 13, 1994. He and his wife, Zelda, were ward, stake, and regional dance directors for many years in the Pocatello/Blackfoot region. He was a high priest in the Melchizedek Priesthood. He also served in the Stake Sunday School, and as a Sunday school teacher. He was called on a stake mission in the Alameda Stake in 1970, and he was a counselor in the Pocatello Stake Mission Presidency. He loved serving as a home teacher. He attended school in Lund and Bancroft until his freshman year. Then his family moved to Moreland, IDAHO, where he graduated from Moreland High School in 1941. He went to IDAHO State Vocational School and studied welding, graduating in November 1941. During World War II, he worked in the shipyards in Portland, Oregon, building ships for the Navy and later as a mechanic working on P-47's at Pocatello airfield. He was the owner and founder of Anderson Auto Service on Poleline Rd in Pocatello, which he managed for 37 years. He loved his country and was very active politically in the Republican Party and the Freeman Institute. His other interests included spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Janet, and three children; Corey and Darrel of Blackfoot and Rhonda of Pocatello; 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; and his sister Mary Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Zelda; sisters, Minerva and Ruby, brothers, Newel, William Hans, Kenneth, Gerald, Dean and John. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 3 at the Indian Hills chapel on Bannock Highway in Pocatello, ID. Burial was in the Riverside Thomas Cemetery in Blackfoot, ID.
