Betty Lou Lipp, 82, of Defiance, passed away on October 17, 2012, at the Laurels of Defiance.
Betty Lou was born on April 11, 1930, to Ward E. and Mildred E. (Hamlin) Wissler in Defiance, Ohio. On June 26, 1949, she married John J. Lipp, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2009. Betty Lou worked as a homemaker and was an early Avon sales woman in Sherwood, Ohio, and a member of Junction Bible Christian Church, Defiance Church of the Brethren, and the Church of God. She was a Sunday school teacher, a cook for many years and youth director, as well as cook for funeral luncheons and at the Payne camp meetings at the Church of God. She took great pride in keeping her home clean and was known for doing so. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Betty Lou is survived by her daughter, Judith (Mike) Davidson of Columbia, Tenn.; sons, Bruce Lipp of Edgerton, Ohio, and Monte (Kim) Lipp, Chesapeake, Va.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Ummel, Goshen, Ind.
Betty Lou was preceded in death by husband, John Lipp; father, Ward E. Wissler; mother, Mildred E. (Hamlin) Wissler; brothers, Ward Junior Wissler and Edwin E. Wissler; and a daughter, Julia Dawn Lipp.
Visitation will be held at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio, on Friday, October 26, 2012, from 2-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Saturday. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Gene Yenser officiating. Burial will take place in Evansport Cemetery.
