Captain John Bain was the Assistant Harbour Master of Newcastle Harbour, NSW Australia. Previous to that he worked in New Zealand. He was born in Wick, Caithness, Scotland to William Bain & Janet Cook. His wife Joan Jolly was the daughter of Dr William Jolly of Wick, Caithness Scotland and Jane Strachan. They had 3 daughters, Jane, (Beard), Elizabeth (McGovern) and Joan (Nixon)& a son William Sinclair Bain. They lived at 15 George St at Belmont, NSW Australia.
