When my mother was expecting me, my dad was hoping for a boy. So, when I was born a girl my grandma called me Butchie. As I grew older, I called her Grandma Butchie. I suppose it was my connection with her. As my other siblings came along, they all followed my example and she was Grandma Butchie to all of us. She taught me about being a lady, how to sit, how to walk with a book on my head, and proper manners in courtesies and eating. I am so grateful for all she taught me and for her example. She showed her love by giving gifts. She was more reserved in her physical expressions but I know that she loved me. I loved her very much and miss her. I hope she is one of those who will meet me when it is my time to pass over. Marilyn Vollmer Magruder Kraft
