The plaque's inscription was written by Inga Ward's son, Jens, who is an award-winning journalist and poet, and it reads: "May her spirit rise, And be borne by the winds, To where time ends, And to where it all begins."
Inga Ward, late of Balgowlah, was born in Copenhagen and was the only child of popular Danish composer and organist, Emil-Juel Frederiksen (1878 -1950). She married Firth Harold Ward (1918-1963), a veterinarian. Inga's dying wish was to be buried in Manly Cemetery, but it was closed to burials. Jens, Inga's son, asked his friend Robbie Stoddart jokingly if he had any room in his family plot for his mother. Robbie didn't hesitate, and offered up his plot to Inga. "I always liked Mrs Ward," Robbie said at the time. Inga's plaque can be seen on the bottom right corner of the Stoddart family plot.
