10/29/16 ~ 6/3/03 Our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend passed away June 3, 2003 after a long illness. He was born in Bath England on Oct 29, 1916 to Frederick and Nora Marie Heal Thatcher. The family emigrated from England in 1921. He attended Franklin Elementary, Dixon Jr. High and graduated from Provo High School. He married Marjorie Wagers in 1941. They were later divorced. He married Mary Ellen Thompson Thatcher July 23, 1953 in Evanston, Wyo. Together they ran Harold's Lounge in Provo for 35 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Footprinters Association, Elks, Eagles, and Moose. He was a member of the LDS church. He had 7 children: Noralyn Snow, Mrs. Kevin (Lesli Ann) Carter, Mrs. Dave (Sue) Nabor, Mrs. Donne Ray (Valeri) Dunn, Mrs. Michael (Eileen) Stone, Mrs. Wynn (Bette) Hubrich, and Terry Thatcher; 36 grandchildren; and 34 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by six brothers, three sisters and his sweetheart and wife, Mary. Viewing will be held at Berg Mortuary in Provo, 185 E. Center Street, from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday June 8, 2003. Services will be held Monday, June 9th at 11a.m. at the Grand View 14th Ward Chapel, 1122 North Grand Ave., Provo. Viewing at the church one-hour prior to services. The family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the staffs of Draper Care Center, Highland Care Center, Care Source Hospice, and Silverado Aspen Park for the wonderful care, compassion and love for dad. Ruth established many MLB batting records, including career home runs (714), runs batted in (RBIs) (2,213), bases on balls (2,062), slugging percentage (.690), and on-base plus slugging (OPS) (1.164); the latter two still stand as of 2018. Ruth is regarded as one of the greatest sports heroes in American culture and is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all time. In 1936, Ruth was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of its "first five" inaugural members.

The Columbine High School massacre was a school shooting that occurred on April 20, 1999, at Columbine High School in Columbine, an unincorporated area of Jefferson County, Colorado, United States, in the Denver metropolitan area. In addition to the shootings, the complex and highly planned attack involved a fire bomb to divert firefighters, propane tanks converted to bombs placed in the cafeteria, 99 explosive devices, and car bombs. The perpetrators, senior students Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, murdered 12 students and one teacher. They injured 21 additional people, and three more were injured while attempting to escape the school. The pair subsequently committed suicide.
