Lord Have Mercy on Us
Born March 6, 1917 in Salt Lake City, UT, the oldest daughter and third child to William Russell Swonson and Hetty Esther Cottam Swonson in a loving family of ten other siblings. Mary graduated in 1934 from East High School. Employed at the Royal Baking Company for many years and Strevell Patterson Co. as a bookkeeper.
Mary met her husband Francis T. Haag in 1945 in front of the Salt Lake Tribune building during the celebration of VJ day. They were married in her parents' backyard on June 15, 1948. Honeymooned and lived in Philadelphia, Indiana for fifteen years, where Mom opened a gift shop in her home, and raised three children. PTA member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Greenfield, den mother to her sons Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops.
Mary and Frank moved to Salt Lake City in 1966. She loved her Cubs, Dodgers, Braves, and the Jazz, visiting and playing cards with her family and living in the Salt Lake Valley surrounded by her favorite mountains.
Survived by her children, John, Frankie, and Bob (Colleen), four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, brother's Harry, Richard, and Carl, sister Ella Jane, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
