George Franklin Barton

I never met this great-grandfather as he died when Dad was still only 3 years old, but Dad has his first name for the Barton family. He didn't really have any memories of him, but he was been told that George Franklin Barton had attended Brigham Young Academy (as it was then) - at a time when it was unusual for most people to have a university standard education. As well as attending the academy, George Franklin Barton farmed - and he was a blacksmith. (First time Travest Johnson met him was when they had a broken hitch on their wagon and Arile M Johnson told him to take in into town to George Barton for him to repair because he was a blacksmith). George Barton invited him to stay for dinner after the repair was done and that's when Travest Johnson first really met Oral Barton. The one thing Mam had been told is that George Barton died suddenly when he was working out in the fields on a hot day and drank some very cold water. After that, no-one in the family ever drank cold water when they were out working in the fields in the heat, because of what happened to Great- Grandpa Barton.
