Erected to the Memory of Major James Stephenson, In whose character, patriotism, integrity & benevolence shone with mild and steady luster After having served his country in the tented field and in the Hall of National Legislation, he died at Harpers Ferry on the 21st day of August 1833, in the 71st year of his age. Universally lamented. His children have erected this tablet as a memorial.
